Footprints in the Sand
Footprints in the Sand, a beautiful poem!
,
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

Only believe only believe all things are possible if we would only believe Lord, I believe Lord, I believe all things are possible Lord I believe Lord I receive Lord I receive all things are possible Lord I received thank you father in Jesus name amen many times in my life, I doubted God’s abilities to protect and to serve I came to the conclusion that his love is bound up in his son and his ways are no longer a mystery thank you father for the precious blood of the lamb.

It is important you name the author, Margaret Fishback Powers. She wrote it on October 9th, 1964 at Echo Lake, Ontario. This weekend Margaret and her friends are celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the poem that has touched a million hearts.
It is under legal copyright, including in the USA.

I'm an atheist and my mom, who is hugely religious, is dying from cancer. I've always loved this poem despite my theological differences from my mom. I got to the last line and was choking back tears.
I think my mom is crying too.

Not only blessed, but I print out this poem for those who need to know they are not alone with situations beyond their control. God is always with us; especially during our time of need.

Footprints in the sand was my nanas favorite poem before she died a few days ago, and I was copying this down to hang up in a remembrance of her. I was so grateful that I could find the exact print she always would use.

I’ve always liked this scripture I remember seeing the pictures on my moms wall and today as I looked in the sky at near dusk I seen what looked like FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND and it just reminded me of that so then I pulled it up! VERY BEAUTIFUL! SO I GUESS THAT IS WHAT THE LORD IS DOING WITH ME RIGHT NOW, CARRYING ME ACROSS THE SAND BECAUSE ALL I SEEN WAS ONE SET OF FOOTPRINTS! I LOVE U SOOOO MUCH LORD AND I THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING THAT U DO FOR ME MY FAMILY AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS OLD WICKED WORLD AND I CANT WAIT UNTIL THE DAY THAT WE ALL MEET U FACE TO FACE IN THE SKY! UR HUMBLED SERVANT SHAWN! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO U JESUS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE OUT THERE THAT IS READING THIS AND PLEASE BE SAFE! 12/12/2023

I've been going through a lot lately, more than I ever have, and today I was crying so hard. Then The Lord reminded me of this poem, I remember that my nanny had this poem hanging in her bathroom when I was a little girl I'd always read it whenever I'd be in there playing with her makeup. I had forgotten this beautiful poem and I know it was God that reminded me of it! Oh how He has carried me through the storm, oh how He has Loved me beyond comprehension...blessings and honor and Glory and Power Belong to Jesus! This poem reminds me of when Shadrach Meshach and Abednego were in the firey furnace, and that there was a forth staring back at them, Jesus Christ shielding them from the fire! Hallelujah!!!! And let us not forget how He told peter to come to Him in the water, and through faith peter walked, although he slipped in a long the way, Jesus was there to pull Him out of the water!!! May God Bless you all abundantly in all that you do In Christ Jesus! Amen ????

I found GOD many years ago high up in the mountains of Northern BC . The world is his canvas. I ask forgiveness and give thanx for all he has blessed me with several times a day .
By comparison to the troubles of the world with so many suffering my problems are miniscule yet he answers my prayer. Truly incredible the power of prayer. I luv Footprints in the Sand.
GOD BLESS

Going through so much pain at the moment. My husband is suffering. I spoke with a fellow human being who told me about this poem. I looked it up and found it and couldn’t stop crying. How blessed to hear those words at this time of distress. That You never leave me alone. Thank you for carrying me and may you also carry my husband through this challenging time. I love you

I love this poem and it has gotten me through a lot of hard times. I can still remember my grandma having this poem framed hanging on her living room wall. and I know she would be so happy; that God allowed me to find it again.

Ever since I was a little girl growing up this poem hung in our wall at home and during my hardest moments my eyes would always somehow lift up to see this poem and it ALWAYS made me feel like I was not alone and I was loved. Now at 41 and a mother of 4 myself I shared this with my children who also told me that during there hardest moments it too has helped them remember that they are so very loved and that God is always with them.

This poem is one of the most true things, and there aren’t a lot of things that are true anymore. But this is completely true.

I am a little girl, and I was sick recently. I felt very sad, but when my dad read "Footprints in the sand" to me, I felt well again. Thank you Lord.

When I first got clean and sober I was working the first 3 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous with my sponsor. I learned that evening that it wasn’t God who turned away from me but rather I turned away. I had done a lot of terrible things while in my disease and was sure God didn’t love me because I was so bad. I learned all I needed was to turn around. In that room when I turned around I felt God’s warm embrace and the love and safety that showed me I had never been abandoned. I know some people who have scoffed at my experience but I wept that night while God held me. When I found the poem “footprints in the sand” I knew I didn’t get to where I was on my own two feet. God had carried me during many of those times. I have a copy I keep on my phone and framed on my wall in my home. If in my humanness if I forget it re-centers me and reminds me that I am not alone. I can’t imagine my life without God in it. Nor would I like to imagine or experience my life without God in it. I ask everyday what can I do to be of service to God. I am not a religious Bible thumper but I am spiritual.
