Where is the way to peace, happiness, love, joy, contentment and the other good things that we want to experience in our life?
Lets begin our journey in the Bible and see what it says:
Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.
So there is a way, or a direction that we can take, which seems right to us, but it will end in unhappiness and ultimately death. So according to this verse, if there is a way that leads to death, there must also be a way that leads to life
Jeremiah 21:8 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
What does this verse say?.... two things have been set before us, the way of life, and the way of death, a way of peace and happiness and a way that leads to misery and death. The question is WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO to experience the way of life? I don't want to go the way that leads to death! What is the right way???
Listen to what Bible says:
Proverbs 8:20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
So if we want to go the right way (the way of righteousness) we must have God leading us. Because Jesus is the one that leads in the right way, the way of life, the way of peace and happiness.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life
Jesus is the way! and when we follow Him we will be walking in the right way.
So does Jesus give us peace? and happiness? Lets have a look:
Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Please bear with me and read this next verse as well:
Ephesians 5:9 For the fruit of the Spirit [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth
But what does this have to do with the way? Linking these texts together we see that: Jesus said "I am the way" and "I lead in the way of righteousness" and that "The Fruit of the spirit is all goodness and righteousness".
So through these verses we see that if Jesus leads us, He will bring about in our lives the beautiful fruit of the Spirit. The way of Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering or Patience, Meekness etc...
So do you want to follow Jesus? He doesn't promise that it will be an easy life, there will still be hard times and trials that we will have to endure and overcome, but He does promise that if we follow Him we will have Joy and perfect peace no matter what happens to us.
The Bible says:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
If we believe in Jesus we will not perish, or die, or walk in the way that leads to death, But we will have everlasting or eternal life.
We need to believe in Jesus to the point of obeidience because the Bible says that the devil believes, but thats not going to save him! and the devil is not living in the way of life. Jesus said "if ye love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15). So if we truly want to follow Jesus, we need to read the Bible, to believe in Him and to ask Him to help us to obey.
In summary:
- We need to follow the right way that leads to life, peace and joy
- Jesus is the way that leads to righteousness
- Jesus will lead us in the Fruit of the Spirit which are Love, Joy, Peace etc...
- We need to belive in Jesus and to follow and obey Him

I experience God directly inside of myself, however God is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent because God is everywhere inside of everything. I don't believe in God for I Know God. Reading a book about food will not satisfy a person's hunger and a picture of water will never quench one's thirst. What I write here is about my direct experience of God. It's not a metaphor, concept, idea, or theory, but my actual experience and there are really no words in the universe that can give a person that experience for they have to feel it for themselves.

"knowing one's self" is man's answer, which you rightly pointed out.
"knowing God" (who is outside of myself), is the Bible's answer. I know this from experience. Inside of us is only selfishness or sin. (Jeremiah 17:9, Psalms 14:3)
In fact to experience this true peace, 'self' must die through surrender (Romans 6:6), and Jesus dwell continually in our mind. The word of God is true:
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee" - Isaiah 26:3
Please don't be upset though, my friend. I don't intend to argue, but merely point out a Biblical answer.
These words have been stated in so many different ways countless times, yet "words" only point the way and if the words are not spoken from that place inside universal to all Human beings then the words are empty of content. An example would be: standing on the shore of a warm and inviting lake with the person on the shore saying: "the lake is warm jump in, the lake is wonderful, step in and feel the warmth of the water, however the person(s) saying this have never entered the water so they are only talking about their idea's, concepts, and theories which are empty of "feeling the experience" of the water which in reality there are no words to describe the feeling itself. Then, there's the person who is in the water saying the same things except they're in the water which makes their words coming from a place of "actually feeling the experience." The person on shore "believes" and the person in the water "Knows" and there lies the difference. The true Master speaks from feeling the experience of Peace and Happiness as well as those who have been shown how to practically make that connection to the place of Peace inside of themselves each day of their lives for they are living the experience and this is called, "Knowledge" the Knowledge of true-self. Socrates and many others throughout history have said: "Know Thyself." For Knowing one's self is where true Peace, Happiness, and Joy exist.

The means to find true peace is easy to understand. The Word of God clearly reveals this.
Sin is the great enemy of peace. Before sin entered our world, everything was in a perfect state of peace and happiness. Sin (or selfishness) destroyed that atmosphere of peace. By nature, human beings are now selfish creatures, slaves to their passions and desires. It is this that brings all strife, fighting and guilt.
There is a way back to that state of perfect peace however.
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." - Isaiah 26:3
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:7
"Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them." - Psalms 119:165
This great and perfect peace which passeth all understanding is found in freedom from its enemy, sin. This freedom from past guilt, and present temptation is the only way to have true peace. And praise God, for the incredible love of our saviour Jesus in living our life, paying for our penalty, and providing a way whereby we might overcome.
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" - Romans 5:1
Jesus promises to dwell in the heart (mind) of all who surrender themselves to him and seek him with all of their heart and strength. Through prayer, and an earnest study of the Word of God, we will understand these things, and how we can have this experience.

True Peace, Happiness, and Joy can only be found in each Human beings heart. They've been there since the first breath we were given at birth to give us life in this world and are always there right up to the last breath that exits this body. Each person must be shown how to make that connection to that place inside of themselves so they can experience and feel Peace and Happiness on a daily basis. Do you know what a real "Blessing" is? A real Blessing is each and every breath a person is given to continue living their life. God is an equal opportunity giver for he gives people from all walks of life their breath and we need not bother ourselves with why God this, that , or the other, all we need to know is God gives every single living Human being on the face of this Earth the opportunity to feel and experience Peace and Happiness in their life and to realize this is the most important thing there is besides being shown how to connect to that place in our heart.

True genuine peace comes as we surrender our all to our loving Saviour, Jesus. (see Romans 5:1). True peace is a gift from God (see James 1:7), and comes when there is no unconfessed and unrepented sins between our soul and the saviour.
When there is silence in the soul, or in other words when we are right with God, then the peace wich passes all understanding (see Philippians 4:7) will keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Therefore, peace depends on forgiveness of sin.
Sin is only something that can be taken away by the sacrifice of Jesus. The atonement of the sinless one satisfies the requirements of the law and justifies the sinner.
Sins cannot be removed by any sum of money. So then it follows that real peace in the heart cannot be bought by any price.
