All Power (part 2)
Do you need power and strength?
, by Emmanuel Higgins
(continued from part 1)
God has promised that He will be our strength, and that He will help us and deliver us in our times of trouble. But how do we actually have this power and help in our life? Its ok to read it in the Bible and think wow that sounds amazing! But how does this come down to a practical everyday level?
Psalms 37:39-40
But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the LORD: [he is] their strength in the time of trouble.
And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
Psalms 28:7 The LORD [is] my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped...
So the Bible says that strength, and help and deliverance come from the Lord, and to whom? Those that trust in Him.
Sounds simple doesn't it? Its a transaction that works like this:
1.We trust in God
2.God Helps us
But what does it actually mean to trust in God for help and strength? And how can we trust in God?
Trusting God is believing in Him. To trust God or have faith in Him, means that you believe everything that God says (in His word, the Bible) is true. You believe that it is true because God said it! This is what it means to trust God!
Trusting in God and His word (the Bible) is not something that you just do when you need help, no! But is something that we must experience, day by day, and our lives will change as we trust God and ready the Bible.
Have you ever found in your life that you've got some bad habit that you just can't stop? Or you keep doing something that is wrong over and over again. Will God give us the power to overcome our bad habits?
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
The Bible says that to all who receive Jesus and believe on Him, to them power will be given to become a child of God! Isn't that amazing!!! That means that whatever bad habit you've got in your life, or whatever you're being tempted with, that God will give you the power over that problem. Because to become a child of God means that you won't do wrong things, but instead God will give you the power over whatever temptations you face!
And do you think that God is powerful enough to help us?
Psalms 147:5 Great [is] our Lord, and of great power: his understanding [is] infinite.
Yes! Words can not describe the power of God!
No one need say that his case is hopeless, that he cannot live the life of a Christian. Ample provision is made by the death of Christ for every soul. Jesus is our ever-present help in time of need. Only call upon Him in faith, and He has promised to hear and answer your petitions. 5T p. 215
Remember these encouraging words from Ephesians 6:10:
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
And from Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Very beautiful scripture and powerful, that we have the capacity to become sons and daughters of God.

Amen!
Its always cheering for us to take our eyes of the troubles of this world and look at Jesus who went through so much more than us!

What an encouraging article, Emmanuel! I especially like that quotation from 5 Testimonies! Christ has given us the ultimate example that nothing in this life can even begin to compare!

Emmanuel thank you for that encouraging study. It reminds me of the text I was reading in John 10:25-30, in that nothing can pluck us out of His hand as long as we believe on Him.
