All Power (part 1)
Help for Discouragement....
, by Emmanuel Higgins
Have you ever felt discouraged in your life? Do you sometimes feel like giving up because failure after failure seems to come your way?
Lets see if this is what the our lives should be like, and if not, how can it be different. Remember to pray for God's guidance before reading the Bible.
In Psalms 31:10 David, the Psalmist writes:
"For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed."
Have you every felt like David did? That you life is spent with grief? And your years with sighing? And when you look at all the mistakes you've made in the past, and the wrong things you've done, does your strength seem to fail and you begin to despair.
Where can we find help? Does God promise to help us?
Can we Trust people to give us strength and to help us?
Psalms 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, [nor] in the son of man, in whom [there is] no help.
So we can't put our trust in anyone in this world, because people can let us down, and if we are gaining all our help from a person, and they fail, we too will fail and be discouraged.
This is why in Psalms 118:8-9 the Bible says:
[It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
[It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
But why is it better to trust in the Lord?
To answer this question lets read this amazing description of the power of God.
Isaiah 40:28-31
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, [that] the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? [there is] no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint; and to [them that have] no might he increaseth strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.
Here a question is asked to all of us: haven't we know or ever heard that the everlasting God faints not, neither is weary, and there is no searching of His understanding?
And this all powerful God gives power to the faint, and to those that are weak. He increases our strength!
Sometimes we young people think that we're invincible! But yes, there comes a time when even youth are weary!!
But they that wait upon the Lord, that means to patiently wait for God to help us. God often tests us to see if we truly desire His help. But if we wait upon the Lord, He shall renew our strength, and lift us up as eagles we shall run (live this life on earth) and not be weary and we shall walk and not faint!
What an amazing promise!
Lets take a quick look at how we can have God's help.
Psalms 37:39-40
But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the LORD: [he is] their strength in the time of trouble.
And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.
Why does the Lord help us, and save us, and why will He be our strength in the time of trouble? Because we trust in Him. This is the key to having divine strength in our life! If we trust in God, and believe that He will help us, He has promised that He will!
So next time you're feeling week and discouraged, remember that God has promised if we wait on Him and believe in Him that He will strengthen us.
Isaiah 26:4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH [is] everlasting strength

These are very encouraging promises. I love the thought that it is the same power that God used to create the world, that He uses to sustain us all and give us that strength.

Wow isn't that an encouraging thought! We have no need to hold our heads low then things go wrong, but the praise the Lord, because He is with us and will strengthen us if we trust Him!

Thanks for sharing those beautiful promises Emmanuel. They are some of my favourites. Especially the one about God renewing our strength like the eagles. How we need to remember that day by day as we face the challenges of life with our puny strength. God bless.

What a blessing to know our Father is there for us - we knew this as children with our Dad's and in growing up we often forget our Heavenly Father is our Dad and longs for us to let HIM hold us, sustain us and help us every day.
