Why Worry? (part 2)
Be Anxious for Nothing
, by Emmanuel Higgins
Last week we saw how we should live just one day at a time, and how we shouldn't be anxious or worried about anything in the future because God has it in control and He will only give us the strength we need just for today.
One of our key texts was
Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Let's read another amazing Bible promise.
Philippians 4:6, 7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Did you know that the phrase "Be careful" in the above text has been translated from the same word as "Take therefore no thought" in Matthew 6:34. And they both mean "to be anxious".
So in the above text God tells us to be careful, or anxious about nothing! But we worry about so many things don't we? We worry about our family, we worry about money, we worry about food, we worry, and we worry, and what happens to us? We don't find peace? But instead we live an unhappy life.
God's doesn't want us to be like that, He wants us to be happy and to have peace.
So He says to us, don't be anxious about anything, but by prayer and supplication (or an earnest request) with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And then the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Isn't it simple? We pray a simple, earnest prayer, and with thanksgiving we tell God what we were anxious about and we surrender it to Him. And then God's amazing peace keeps our hearts and minds because now we don't need to be anxious any more! We have just prayed to the powerful king and ruler of the universe! We don't need to worry any more, but simply rest in the knowledge that God knows about our needs, and He will do what is the best for us.
So friends, lets remember not to be anxious about anything, but pray to God, give to Him the things we were anxious about, trust in Him fully, and let His peace keep our hearts and minds.

Thanks Emmanuel - leaving our cares and "worries" in the very capable hands of our Saviour is really the only safe place to leave them. If we will completely give them over to Him, and leave them there, then His solution is the right solution at the right time and in the right place!

Yes, it is so good "not to be anxious about anything". Before I rest each night. I always claim 2 Cor 10:5 & Prov 3:24. I tend to rest peacefully. I will now claim Matt 6:34. Thank you very much for the beautiful lesson. God Bless your work Emmanuel.
Yes and the key is to surrender completely.

Yes, Emmanuel, the key is surrender. When we give our life completely to God, He takes control, so we don't need to fear, because no matter what happens, He knows best.
