The 2nd Smallest Word
It's easier said than done...
, by Emmanuel Higgins
Yes, just a small word. Hence this gem will only be short. :)
Remember Jesus told a story about a certain man who was robbed and left half dead on the road to Jericho? And how the kind Samaritan had compassion on him and attended to his needs.
Jesus said something profound after He told the story.
"...Go, and do thou likewise" - Luke 10:37
Jesus says go, and then what does He say? Do! It's easy to say now, ah yes, of course I would have stopped and helped the poor man on the side of the road. But hang on a minute put yourself in the situation; would you have stopped and done what you knew to be right?
"It's easier said than done" is what we often hear.
Now on a bigger scale, let's think. The greatest challenge ever to face us is that of being an overcomer. The battle against sin is the greatest ever to be fought. The highest and most noble life ever to be lived is that life which was lived by the highest and most noble being ever to walk on earth, Jesus Christ. To live that life, dear reader is easier said than done.
Maybe you feel like a battle-worn soldier. Perhaps the wind and waves of temptation have battered you to the point of exhaustion. You may have tried time and time again to resist Satan, only to find yourself once again caught in his traps.
There is hope only as you realise your hopelessness. Jesus said:
"I can of mine own self do nothing..." - John 5:30
If that was true of Jesus, how much more of us! Yes, you may have tried and failed, you may feel hopeless. Of your own self you can do nothing... But:
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." - Philippians 4:13
Doesn't the first three words of this text thrill the very core of your being with hope! I CAN DO! Not by myself, but through Christ which strengtheneth me! Yes, regardless of your past, you can stop that bad habit that has been eating away at you for so many years. Yes! You can put away that sin that is between you and your saviour. Take this promise as it reads, God cannot lie. Yes! You can say no to temptation. Yes! Yes! Christ will live His life in you.
The choice is yours; the strength is Christ's; the humble prayer of faith is the key.

Yes, it certainly is a challenge Joel. And there's nothing more satisfying than to face a great challenge and come off conqueror!! What does the Bible say we can be? "more than conquerors through him that loved us".
