Beyond Computation!
It's value can't be calculated...
, by Emmanuel Higgins
Please, take a moment to consider what you are about to read. This is a most solemn topic, the consequences are eternal!
What is one of the most valuable things we have? Think about it...
Would it be gold or silver? Riches? Any material possessions?
Read these verses from the book of Ecclesiastes and then ask yourself this question again.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up [that which is] planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
So what is one of the most valuable things you have?
Did you say TIME? Yes, It's Time, so simple, but profound!
Think about it... what can be accomplished without time? Truly the value of time is beyond computation! It's value cannot be calculated.
What would you pay to live for an extra 10 years of time? What point is everything else in your life if you don't have time to live?
How would you define time? Without saying "well.... time is.... well, it's just a period of time!!"
Here's one way to look at it.
As amazing as it seems to our small minds, the Bible tells us that before sin entered the universe there was a past eternity of joy, peace and happiness in heaven, without time limits! The Bible also tells us that in the future there will be an end of all sin and suffering. Satan, the great deceiver, and all his followers will be destroyed and this world will once again be restored to perfect harmony with God, and will enjoy an eternity of joy, peace and happiness, with no time limits!
So we have an eternity in the past, with no time limits, and an eternity in the future, also with no time limits. In between these two eternities is a very small gap. In this gap everything we know, has an expiry date. In fact, some say the day a human is born is the day they begin to die.
What do we call this gap? Well... you probably guessed, we call it time.
Do you begin to see the picture? The Bible tells us how short our life really is:
James 4:14 For what [is] your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Compare your life, my life, with eternity. Do you begin to see how the length of our lives are only very short? Truly only for a little time.
One of the Bible writers felt this when he said "Remember how short my time is..." (Psalms 89:47).
If you aren't familiar with prophecies of the Bible, take some time to study Matthew chapter 24, and the books of Daniel and Revelation. You will begin to see a startling truth. Time, is running out! We are living at the end of that gap we call time! In most solemn words, Revelation tells us:
Revelation 10:5-6 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
This message announces the end of prophetic time periods and also tells us with a powerful sense of urgency that the day is very soon coming when time as we know it, shall come to an end!
Another of the Bible writers was impressed to tell us:
1 Corinthians 7:29 But this I say, brethren, the time [is] short...
Please, think with me. If time is running out. If we truly are living at the end of time as the Bible tells us, what should be the highest priority in our lives?
Should it be to seek our own pleasures and to do our own selfish will? Think from the perspective of eternity, then ask, what shall it profit me, if I should gain the whole world, yet lose my own soul?
Again, God speaks through His holy word and says:
Romans 13:11-14 And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].
It is high time that we awake out of our spiritual sleep and realise that we don't have much time left in this old world. It's high time that we turn from our sins and put on the Lord Jesus Christ and walk humbly with our God!
Dear reader, don't make a mistake in this matter. Be sure of your salvation! The consequences are eternal!
The world is in a very solemn period; for souls are deciding what will be their eternal destiny. Satan and his angels are continually plotting to make void the law of God, and thus to enslave the souls of men in the toils of sin. The darkness which is covering the earth is deepening, but those who walk humbly with God have nothing to fear. - Ellen White, Maranatha pg. 107
